Jewish activists in the city of Chicago, Illinois, have announced the launch of an open-ended hunger strike in protest of the ongoing massacres committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip.
According to our correspondent, the hunger strike—led by leaders of the organization “Jewish Voice for Peace,” including academics—is also intended to pressure for an end to U.S. military funding to Israel and to lift the blockade on food and medicine that has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The activists affirmed their support for the proposed legislation aimed at halting arms exports to the Israeli occupation.
This hunger strike coincides with a large-scale rally held in Chicago calling for an end to arms supplies to Israel and for humanitarian relief for the people of Gaza. The event saw participation from university students and Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, one of the members of Congress who introduced the “Stop Arming Israel Act.”
